TULSA — Police in Tulsa say they have found the mother of a toddler who was found wandering alone in a north Tulsa neighborhood.
Police said Tuesday that the woman called police about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday and said she is the mother of the 19-month-old girl. Police say the woman told investigators that she had left the child with a baby sitter on Monday and didn’t know she was missing until seeing the girl’s photo on news reports.
Police say the toddler was found late Monday by a woman who then went door-to-door looking for the girl’s parents. Another neighbor took the child to her home, changed her diaper and gave her a bath.
The child is currently in protective custody at a state Department of Human Services shelter.
