Oklahoma tries to fix security system

The Associated Press

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma‚Äôs chief information officer says the state is working to resolve security deficiencies in its information technology systems.

Chief Information Officer Alex Pettit told members of a legislative panel that analysts have found many deficiencies in information security protocols as they work to consolidate state information technology systems.

Pettit says none of the agencies whose systems are now consolidated had been operating under a complete set of basic security operations. Some agencies were not using firewall management, anti-virus protection and network monitoring. And no agencies had developed an incident response or security incident and event management plan.
