OU announces new assistant professor

NORMAN — The University of Oklahoma School of Art and Art History is pleased to welcome multi-media artist Cathleen Faubert to the faculty as assistant professor of Art, Technology and Culture.

Cathleen Faubert earned her MFA from Tufts University/School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and has taught at the university level for the last seven years. She works with photography, video and installation to highlight ideas of self-empowerment, unseen forces and human constraint. Faubert was awarded an ART365 Project Grant from the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition in 2013. She has exhibited nationally including: Dangerous Women, DFN Gallery, Chelsea, NY; Nascent, New England School of Art & Design at Suffolk University, Boston, MA; Islands of Isolation, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. This summer, she completed an Artist Residency in Tyrol, Austria, and will exhibit her research and work in September 2013 at the Mehlerhaus, a cultural museum and historical landmark in the Austrian Alps.

The School of Art and Art History is the largest; most comprehensive art school in Oklahoma and is the only institution in the state to offer a doctoral program in art history. The School of Art and Art History serves approximately 400 undergraduate and graduate level students in art history, media, studio and design with a faculty of 28 full-time artists, designers, scholars, a full-time Sculptor-in-Residence, the H. Russell Pitman Professor of Art History and the Charles Marion Russell Memorial Chair of Art in the American West.

Members of the OU School of Art & Art History’s Media faculty are active artists with diverse creative, critical and technical interests and have won national, state, and university awards for their teaching, research, and creative works, including the OU Foundation Excellence in Teaching Award and the Regents’ Award for Professional and University Service.
