NORMAN — Renovation of the Bizzell Memorial Library’s Neustadt Wing Lower Level 1 and construction of the Oklahoma Memorial Union Technology Store are among topics to be discussed by the University of Oklahoma Board of Regents at its regular meeting today and Friday on the OU Norman campus.
The meeting will begin 3:30 p.m. today in the Scholars Room of Oklahoma Memorial Union, 900 Asp Ave., with items submitted by OU, followed by those submitted by Rogers State University and Cameron University.
The board will meet again at 8:15 a.m. Friday in the same location to interview candidates for the Cameron University presidency and discuss personnel in executive session.
After interviews and discussion, the board has the option of reconvening in open session if a Regent wishes to make a recommendation on an appointment for the Cameron University presidency.
The OU board will review project design documents for the library project, which involves a complete renovation and modernization of approximately 18,000 gross square feet on Lower Level 1 of the 1983 Neustadt Wing addition.
The design supports collaborative student learning spaces, creates an innovative classroom and flexible work space areas and includes a variety of individual and group study areas, including seminar space, group meeting areas, a digital humanities laboratory, a video creation lab and faculty research areas. The existing Bookmark Café will be renovated and expanded.
The Oklahoma Memorial Union Technology Store project involves renovation of the space formerly occupied by the union bookstore to create areas for computer and electronic device sales, accessory sales, support and service for devices.
The project will include a training room for workshops and one-on-one training as well as open demonstration space to showcase innovative new technology for students and faculty.
The next meeting of the OU Board of Regents is scheduled for June 24-26 in Ardmore.
