NORMAN — A $2.4 million grant from the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation to the Donald W. Reynolds Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center College of Nursing will give the center a boost in its efforts to attract and provide additional educational opportunities for its doctoral-level nursing students.

“Over the past five years, the OU College of Nursing’s Reynolds Center has made great strides in enhancing the lives of older adults through growing opportunities for Ph.D. scholars and supporting research with real world applications,” OU College of Nursing Dean Lazelle Benefield, Ph.D., R.N., F.A.A.N., said. “This new grant furthers our efforts in these areas, while allowing for an additional $800,000 in Ph.D. student scholarships to help address the need for doctorally prepared nursing faculty.”

The four-year grant to the Donald W. Reynolds Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence will be used to support the Reynolds Center’s phase II operations from 2013-2017.
