NORMAN — The naming of the University of Oklahoma College of Law south oval drive and the Imhoff Road reconstruction project are among topics to be discussed by the OU Board of Regents at its regular meeting today and Thursday.

The meeting will begin at 3 p.m. today in the Scholars Room of Oklahoma Memorial Union with items submitted by Cameron University considered first followed by those submitted by Rogers State University. The meeting will resume at 9 a.m. Thursday for consideration of OU agenda items.

The board will consider a recommendation to name the oval drive on the south side of the OU College of Law the “Professor Frank and Edna Asper Elkouri Oval.”

For almost 60 years, College of Law professor emeritus Frank Elkouri and his wife, Edna Asper Elkouri, were integral to the fabric of the law school.

Professor Elkouri joined the OU law faculty in 1952. Though he retired in 1985, he continued his leadership at the law school through 2010 as a mentor and accomplished scholar.

In 2011, the Elkouris made the largest one-time contribution in the history of the law school: a $6 million gift to support student scholarship programs in the OU College of Law. The couple recently died — Frank on Jan. 18, 2013, and Edna on Feb. 17, 2014.

The OU board also will consider a proposal for the award of a contract for the reconstruction of Imhoff Road north of Lloyd Noble Center between Jenkins and Chautauqua avenues. The project would include roadway replacement, a new structural subgrade, new subsurface storm drainage, curbs, gutters and paving.

The next regular meeting of the OU Board of Regents is scheduled for May 8 and 9 in Norman.
