Designer joins OU art faculty

NORMAN — The University of Oklahoma School of Art and Art History announced recently that designer Tom Davie will join the faculty as assistant professor of Visual Communications.

Professor Davie earned his MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and has taught at the university level for six years, most recently as an adjunct professor of design at The Art Academy of Cincinnati.

He has 15-years’ experience as a professional graphic designer, freelancer and owner of studiotwentysix2, working with clients such as Sony, Disney, Benetton and United Way.

His interests and research focus on typographic experimentation, entrepreneurship, mixed-media exploration and design thinking. Davie’s work has been featured in publications, including PRINT’s Regional Design Annual, Communication Arts, HOW, Computer Arts, Codex and IdN.

The School of Art and Art History serves approximately 400 undergraduate and graduate level students in art history, media, studio and design with a faculty of 28 full-time artists, designers, scholars, a full-time Sculptor-in-Residence, the H. Russell Pitman Professor of Art History and the Charles Marion Russell Memorial Chair of Art in the American West.
