Delta Dental awards 12 scholarships to OU College of Dentistry students

NORMAN — Delta Dental of Oklahoma Oral Health Foundation announced 12 recipients of the Delta Dental Scholarship Fund at the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry for 2013-2014.

The foundation’s annual scholarship fund was established in 2001 to encourage future enrollment in the OU College of Dentistry and to help address a projected shortage of dentists in Oklahoma over the next 15 years.

Recipients of the scholarship include Jeremy Edwards, of Edmond; Michael Henneberry, of Stillwater; Ryan Johnson, of Tulsa; Gabriel Luttrell, of Midwest City; Krystal Mills, of Norman; Joshua Prentice, of Owasso; Loan Vu, of Oklahoma City; Michele Walker, of Newcastle; Lindsay DeGuilio, of Oklahoma City; Chelsea Knox, of Oklahoma City; Brian Wilson, of Burns Flat; and Shakir Feroz, of Yukon.

The foundation’s scholarship fund, which has awarded nearly $500,000 to date, assists current dental students with the major financial burden they face, while recognizing those candidates who have also demonstrated outstanding academic excellence, commitment to the community and exceptional professional potential. Scholarship recipients also express a commitment to practice dentistry within the state of Oklahoma upon graduation.
