OU Commencement, convocation and reception schedules announced
William S. Cohen, 20th U.S. Secretary of Defense, former U.S. senator and the author or co-author of 11 books, including two books of poetry, will deliver the University of Oklahoma’s Commencement address at 7 p.m. Friday in The Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, 180 W. Brooks St.
OU’s Commencement ceremony will feature the pageantry and pomp of herald trumpets and the Kiowa Black Leggings Society as well as the bagpipes and drums of the Highlanders.
In the event of inclement weather, the university-wide Commencement ceremony will be moved to Lloyd Noble Center, 2900 S. Jenkins Ave. Faculty, graduates and guests will need a Commencement rain location ticket to be admitted into Lloyd Noble Center. If Commencement is moved to Lloyd Noble Center due to inclement weather, guests also may view the ceremony from one of the following simulcast locations: the OU women’s and men’s basketball practice courts and the Kerr-McGee Courtside Club, all in Lloyd Noble Center (please enter from the southeast entrances only); Catlett Music Center, 500 West Boyd St.; Donald W. Reynolds Performing Arts Center, 560 Parrington Oval; or Rupel J. Jones Theater, 563 Elm Ave.
Colleges on OU’s Norman, Oklahoma City and Tulsa campuses have announced the dates and times of their individual convocations. At the college convocations, graduates are recognized: their names are announced, they have their pictures taken, and they are presented a diploma cover by their college dean.
