Public invited to screening

NORMAN — University of Oklahoma art and art history students are hosting a film screening 7 tonight at the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art, 555 Elm Ave., in conjunction with the 100th annual School of Art and Art History Student Exhibition.

Selected students from the OU School of Art and Art History will show and discuss their film, video, sound and other time-based work.

The student film screening, “Nascent,” showcases work from students at a variety of levels from sophomore undergraduates to second-year graduate students.

“The term Nascent is about displaying signs of future potential,” said Cathleen Faubert, assistant professor of art, technology and culture.

The films featured range in length from 15 seconds to six minutes, highlighting works by OU art and art history students.

Nineteen films will be shown, including “Best $50 ever Spent” by Ryan Harris, a past and current student exhibition winner; “Misery Performs as Profit” by Brittney Shantel; and “The B-day that never ends” by Jessica Forehand.

General admission to the museum is complimentary to all visitors. The museum is closed on Mondays. Information and accommodations on the basis of disability are available by calling 325-4938 or visiting ou.edu/fjjma.
