OKLAHOMA CITY — Allied Arts on Sunday launched power2give.org/centraloklahoma, an online crowdfunding platform designed to connect donors directly with arts and cultural projects that need funding.
Local nonprofit arts organizations will post their financial needs for specific projects on the site, and power2give.org empowers donors to give directly to projects.
At the time of the launch, power2give.org/centraloklahoma had 25 projects to choose from, with requests totaling more than $120,000. Projects range from scholarships for dance and music classes to creating opportunities for the community to experience art and history in new ways. New projects will be regularly posted to the site.
Partnering with Allied Arts for the launch of power2give in central Oklahoma is Continental Resources, which will be matching donations made through the site dollar for dollar up to $75,000.
Power2give.org was created by the Arts & Science Council in Charlotte, N.C., as a way to expand the support of the local cultural sector. Since its launch in August 2011, power2give.org has expanded into 22 communities nationwide and raised more than $4.9 million in support of the arts. Every donation is tax deductible, and each organization is able to keep what it raises, even if the project is not fully funded.
Qualified central Oklahoma nonprofit arts organizations can apply to post projects on power2give.org. For more information, visit alliedartsokc.com/grants or call 278-8944.
