Crosstown Clash tips off winter break

NORMAN — One of two annual Crosstown Clash events is set for Friday at Norman North High School.

The match-up of junior varsity and varsity girls and boys basketball teams will be hosted during the following times: JV girls, 3:30 p.m.; JV boys, 4:45 p.m.; varsity girls, 6:15 p.m.; and varsity boys, 7:45 p.m.

As the host team, Norman North will take the south side of the gym, and Norman North students will sit on the east end of the bleachers.

Norman High fans should sit on the north side of the gym. Norman High students will sit on the west end of the bleachers on the north side of the gym.

Tickets are $5 for adults and students. Fans will not be allowed to bring in food, drinks, noise makers or signs.

The annual basketball match-up has had many “buzzer beaters” in recent years. Last year, the lady Timberwolves blocked the Tigers’ winning streak by winning both contests. The year before that, NHS girls won both games on last-second shots.

Each of the varsity boys’ teams captured a Crosstown win last year, with each team winning their game when competing on the road.

Those who can’t attend the varsity games can watch them at 6 p.m. at NormanHighLive.com and NormanNorthLive.com.
