Nutrition workshop set

NORMAN — Shape Your Future Cleveland County is inviting the public to the Cleveland County Nutrition and Fitness Got Health Community Workshop from 8:30 a.m. to noon March 5 at the Moore Norman Technology Center, 4701 12th Ave. N.W., Gate 2, Main Building. The free event will include a light breakfast.

The featured speaker will be Oklahoma’s own Chef Ryan Parrott. Ryan focuses on flavor and technique rather than flair and style.

There will be three workshops. One will offer guidance to healthier lifestyles in the schools. The other two will focus on wellness in the workplace, one for larger companies and one for smaller organizations.

Breakout sessions will offer resources and real life strategies for educators to use in the classroom, and workplace sessions will provide business and community leaders with strategies to create a healthier workplace with happier employees.

Nabholz Construction Services will join the workshop to serve on the panel and to lead a breakout session. Nabholz Construction Services was featured on the HBO documentary “The Weight of the Nation.”

Tool kits will be handed out to all attendees with information addressing nutrition and physical activity, followed by a discussion about what SYFCC is doing locally. Dr. Brent Delong will be the closing speaker. He will teach the five essentials to help people achieve their maximized health potential in the community.
