LAWRENCE, Kan. — Staring at another crossroads in their season, the Oklahoma women kept it together long enough to find their legs at Allen Fieldhouse Sunday afternoon.

The end result, stopping Kansas 81-71, may have been one of their most rewarding wins of the season.

OU (15-9, 6-5 Big 12) led 31-29 at the half, mostly because it held KU (11-13, 4-8) leading scorer Chelsea Gardner to just two points before the break.

It certainly wasn’t because the firepower in OU’s lineup had gotten on track. The Sooners’ two leading scorers, Aaryn Ellenberg and Sharane Campbell, finished with a combined two points over the first 20 minutes.

Campbell only played one of those minutes after being whistled for two quick fouls one game after fouling out against Baylor.

OU erupted after the half.

The Sooners shot 56 percent from the field and made 6 of 10 3-point attempts over the final 20 minutes.

Also, Ellenberg erupted for 17 post-intermission points to lead OU with 19. Meanwhile, Campbell came through with nine second-half points.

The Sooners picked up big games from both center Nicole Griffin and point guard Morgan Hook.

Griffin finished with her third double-double of the season, netting 10 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. One more assist would have given Hook her own double-double. Instead, she settled for 15 points and nine helpers.

Nicole Kornet added a big game off the bench, much of it while Campbell sat in foul trouble, finishing with 11 points on 3-of-4 3-point shooting.

Gardner finished with 10 points and nine rebounds. Natalie Knight led the Jayhawks with 25 points and Markisha Hawkins added 16.

OU led on the boards, outrebounding KU 37-29, and at the free-throw line, where the Sooners were awarded fewer chances than the Jayhawks (16 to 20), yet cashed in more opportunities (14 to 12).

OU gets three days off the game court before playing host to West Virginia at 6 p.m. Thursday
