Griffith will seek re-election to council

NORMAN — Norman City Councilman, small business owner and local dentist Dr. Jim Griffith has announced he will be seeking re-election.

“We have made a lot of progress in the five years I have served on the City Council,” said Griffith. “But our job is not done. We still need to oversee the funding and passage of quality of life issues such as the public safety sales tax, a comprehensive water plan, the storm water master plan and the parks master plan.

Griffith has lived in Norman since 1961 and has been practicing dentistry for more than 25 years.

He is a graduate of Leadership Norman, served on the board of Health for Friends and was Chairman of the Norman Board of Parks Commissioners for three years and served on the parks board for 18 years.

He currently serves as chair of the Council’s Business and Community Affairs Committee and is a member of the Finance Committee. He also serves as mayor pro-tem.

His wife, Claudia, is a native of Norman. They have one daughter, Amy, and two sons, Brian and James.

“Norman is a great community. My wife, Claudia, and I decided to live here and raise our family here. It has been an honor to serve the people of Ward 6 and I hope to keep working to move Norman forward,” he said.
