NORMAN — City Council Member Chad Williams announced today that he will run for re-election for the Ward 8 city council seat.
The ward seat encompasses portions of northwest and north central Norman.
Williams, 34, has been associate pastor of Harvest Church, also located in Ward 8, for four years. Williams oversees the facilities, various ministries, budget and pastoral care services for the church.
Williams said he is excited to announce that he will be running for re-election to the Norman City Council Ward 8.
“I have learned much from the two years on the council. Decisions need to be made by including as many stakeholders as possible in conversations, listening to all sides of issues and determining what outcome will work best for our community. With your help, I look forward to another two years to continue my work.
“I want to continue working to ensure our local government is fiscally prudent, open and transparent on behalf of its citizens. That is my No. 1 priority. As a husband and father, I want to continue to make sure our neighborhoods are safe, that we make the funding of public safety and our first responders a priority.
“Finally, I want to live in a community that values small business. Our city will thrive if we create a strong business environment. We must work hand-in-hand with business to grow our tax base that funds vital services.”
Williams is a third-generation resident of Norman. He and wife, Amanda, along with their twins, live in the Cascade Estates addition.
Williams serves as vice chairman of the board of directors for the Eden Clinic in Norman.
He also volunteers as a coach, with several teams throughout the community.
