CCSO investigates woman’s death

NORMAN — The Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident after a woman was run over by a truck Saturday evening and later died.

Meghan McCormick, Sheriff’s Office spokesperson, said deputies responded to a report of an injured person around 6:30 p.m. Saturday in the 1700 block of Blueridge Road West when they found the victim, Melissa Henderson, 35, of Little Axe.

Henderson was transported to the OU Medical Center and underwent surgery late Saturday night but was pronounced dead Sunday afternoon, McCormick said.

Henderson’s cousin, Matthew Jenkins, said Henderson was run over during a domestic dispute. Jenkins said the Sheriff’s Office told the family that deputies had previously responded to several domestic dispute calls.

“She leaves behind two beautiful boys,” he said.

No criminal charges have been filed at this time, and the incident is under investigation by the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office, McCormick said.

“Investigators are still getting everything together,” she said. “We’re still waiting on reports from the Medical Examiner.”
