Newalla man ID’d in fatality wreck

NORMAN — The driver involved in a single-vehicle fatality wreck March 1 on Indian Hills Road was identified Thursday.

Micah James Nix, 40, of Newalla, was the driver of the involved 2005 Chevrolet Aveo, police said. No other persons or vehicles were involved.

Police responded to the one-vehicle wreck around 2:39 a.m. Saturday in the 8000 block of Northeast Indian Hills Road. The reporting party stated that a vehicle had rolled and was fully engulfed in flames.

Norman police officers responded to the scene and found the vehicle on the north shoulder, engulfed in flames. Norman Fire Department units extinguished the fire.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the vehicle was eastbound on Indian Hills Road, lost control for an unknown reason, exited the roadway onto the north shoulder, rolled and caught on fire.

The wreck remains under investigation by the Norman/OU Police Collision Investigation Reconstruction Team, with assistance from the Norman Fire Department and the Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s Office.
