Street widening project moving ahead

NORMAN — The ongoing widening work on State Highway 9 in southeast Norman moved ahead with action at Monday’s Oklahoma Transportation Commission meeting.

Commissioners approved a $9.6 million contract with Allen Contracting Inc. of Oklahoma City for widening work beginning at 24th Avenue Southeast. The job will extend 1.5 miles east.

It’s part of a plan to widen Highway 9 to four lanes between Norman and Tecumseh.
