Man in critical condition after being shot in the face

Several men in masks kicked in the door of a Norman residence and shot one man in the face Thursday night around 8:39, according to police reports. The victim is at Norman Regional Hospital in critical condition.

Norman police responded to a call at an address on North Stewart Avenue after a disturbance was reported. When officers arrived, they found two residents in the home. One, a white male in his 20s, was shot in the face. The other, a white female in her 60s, was uninjured. No other residents were there, according to police reports.

The injured subject was transported by EMSStat to Norman Regional Hospital at 901 N. Porter Ave. The female resident also was transported as a precautionary measure.

The preliminary investigation indicates three vehicles pulled up next to the residence. Several subjects got out of the vehicles and approached the house. The subjects, wearing masks, kicked in the front door and approached the male victim, who was shot one time in the face with a handgun.

The subjects then left the area driving southbound after taking the female victim’s wallet, according to the report.

The suspects were described as white males. The vehicles were reported to be a white, four-door car, a tan minivan and a tan SUV. Police report that the victim may have known the suspects.

The victims’ names are being withheld until relatives can be notified. The incident is remains under investigation.
