Red Carpet Film Festival showcases creative spirit

NORMAN — Moore Norman Technology Center’s Digital Video Production, DVP and graphic design classes will host the sixth annual Red Carpet Film Festival at 7 p.m. April 12 at the Sooner Theatre.

Tickets are $7 and must be purchased in advance due to limited seating. Tickets may be purchased by cash or check at MNTC’s Franklin Road Campus inside the IT Building or by calling 364-5763, ext. 4120.

The Red Carpet Film Festival promotes the expanding film community in Oklahoma and energizes MNTC students’ creative spirit. The short films to be shown during the event are the culmination of MNTC students’ work from the DVP and graphic design classes.

The eight student-produced short films to be showcased are “Betrayal,” “The Cardboard Keeper,” “The Man in the Woods,” “In Broad Daylight,” “Waffle,” “Stick Up,” “Dissonance” and “Call for a Good Time.”

Students in DVP and graphic design complete a capstone course during their second year of instruction. DVP students write, shoot, direct and edit short films, while graphic design students work as an advertising agency producing movie posters, DVD boxes, invitations and other print support materials for the event.

Students from the Academy of Contemporary Music at the University of Central Oklahoma provided original scores and sound design for movies.

Chris Freihofer, CSA with Freihofer Casting, worked with DVP students and hosted a casting call to find local talent.
