Frigid forecast calls for cancellations

NORMAN — The city’s Holiday Celebration and the United Way victory dinner have been rescheduled due to the inclement weather forecast.

The United Way victory luncheon scheduled for Friday has been moved to 11:30 a.m. Dec. 17.

Additionally, Havenbrook Funeral Home has canceled its Christmas Memorial Service scheduled for tonight.

A legislative study to examine how training requirements for county elected officials could be improved has been rescheduled for Dec. 12, due to the likelihood of poor weather conditions today.

The city’s celebration, scheduled for Friday at Andrews Park, has been canceled.

Santa has been rescheduled to be at the Andrews Park building, 201 W. Daws St., from 5 to 8 p.m. Dec. 16. Everyone is invited to come out to the park and enjoy free hot chocolate, cookies and, most of all, visit with Santa. For more information, visit normanfun.com.

Norman’s Business and Community Affairs Committee meeting, at 8:30 a.m. Friday, has been canceled.

The potential arctic blast predicted to hit the metro has prompted Christmas in Old Town organizers to go ahead and cancel Friday’s activities.

The annual Christmas in Old Town event, including the City Hall Christmas Tree Lighting, was originally scheduled for Friday at Old Town Moore.

These events will not be rescheduled, but will resume in 2014.

The Oklahoma game against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi that was originally scheduled for 7 tonight has been moved up to 2 p.m. today at Lloyd Noble Center.

All fans will be admitted free of charge (doors open at 12:30 p.m. for everyone). However, season ticket holders and other fans who purchased tickets for the game in advance will have first right to occupy their reserved seat locations.

For those without tickets, all seats not occupied by the season ticket holder or by fans who purchased tickets in advance will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

For this game only, concession stands will offer popcorn and sodas for $1 each.
