Chickasaw Nation leverages health care experience in new facility serving public

NORMAN — With construction on a new Norman-area medical clinic and pharmacy nearing completion, officials with Sovereign Medical Clinic and Pharmacy recently announced lead medical providers who will serve the public in Cleveland County and surrounding communities.

Focused on providing comprehensive medical care, as well as urgent care services, the 13,700-square-foot facility also will provide immunizations and flu shots, physicals and wellness exams. It houses 14 exam rooms, in-house laboratory and radiology services, pharmacy with two-lane drive thru and a gift shop.

The complex will have a staff of 30, including a family medicine physician, an urgent care physician, four physician assistants, a radiology manager, a pharmacy manager, medical and pharmacy staff, as well as office personnel. 

· Bob Elliott, D.O., ACOFP, D.Ph.

Practicing family medicine, urgent care and occupational medicine in Norman since 1989, Dr. Bob Elliott is a graduate of Oklahoma State University of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery. He completed his residency at Dallas-Fort Worth Medical Center in Grand Prairie, Texas. He has a Doctor of Pharmacy from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Elliott has his Board Certification in American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, as well as licensure from the Oklahoma Board of Osteopathic Medicine.

Since 2006, Elliott previously worked as a family physician, urgent care physician and lab director for Integris Physician Services Inc. While working as the medical director of Norman Regional Hospital Urgent Care Centers, Elliott founded United Works Inc. He began consulting with the Oklahoma Diagnostic and Evaluation Center for Children in 1995. He created and served six years as the medical director for Norman Minor Emergency Clinic. Elliott began his career as a private practice physician in 1984.

· Michelle Bourne, PA-C

As a native of Norman, certified physician assistant Michelle Bourne earned her Master of Health Sciences and graduated with distinction from the University of Oklahoma. She has certifications with the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, as well as the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision, and is a member with both the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Oklahoma Academy of Physician Assistants.
