NORMAN — Officials with Riverwind Casino announced recently the organizations benefiting from the Riverwind Casino Charity Golf Classic.
The tournament will be a four-person scramble at 10 a.m. June 30 at The Trails Golf Club in Norman.
Clayton Stewart, corporate accounts and sponsorship manager, said this year’s sponsorship monies and entry fees will be split 75/25 percent between two nonprofit organizations, Cavett Kids Foundation and Bridges.
“Both the Cavett Kids Foundation and Bridges provide young Oklahomans with important services and life-changing programs,” Stewart said. “It is an honor to organize an event that directly impacts the communities in which we live.”
Cavett Kids Foundation provides camps and events for children battling life-threatening and chronic illnesses. All the programs are free to children and their families.
“Riverwind Casino has played a large role in helping Cavett Kids expand services to thousands of Oklahoma children,” said Jenny Rodgers, Cavett Kids Foundation executive director. “We are grateful to be on the receiving end of this year’s golf tournament.”
The Norman-based organization receiving funds from the golf tournament is Bridges. The program assists high school students who live alone due to a family crisis. Bridges offers low-cost housing for students.
The casino’s inaugural golf classic raised more than $29,000 for Children’s Hospital Foundation in 2012. The tournament was not hosted in 2013 due to the May tornadoes, the casino focused its efforts on helping storm-impacted communities.
Registration for a four-person team begins at $1,000. Players can pick from eight sponsorship packages. Event sponsorships still are available.
