Bike tour needs helpers

NORMAN — Volunteers are needed for this year’s Norman Conquest, an annual tour that benefits Camp Claphans at Norman’s J.D. McCarty Center for Children with Development Disabilities.

The event, rated by Bicycling Magazine as one of the 50 Best Rides in America, will be held July 12. Volunteers are also needed on July 10 and July 11.

Cyclists will leave the J.D. McCarty Center on East Robinson beginning at 7 a.m. and cover routes up to 64 miles. Shorter routes include a Town Tour and 10, 22 and 46-milers.

The event is sponsored by the Bicycle League of Norman but volunteers do not need to be members or even cyclists.
