Movie makers get their chance

NORMAN — The Producers Guild of America and Cadillac have partnered to present, Make Your Mark: a Short Film Competition.

Honoring producer Saul Zaentz (“One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest” and “Amadeus”), the competition requires contestants to create a 3 to 5 minute film over a unanimously assigned topic from Friday through Sunday.

Ten finalists will get their work showcased online and three will be flown to Los Angeles with a $30,000 budget to make their short film. The winner will have their work featured during a 30 second Cadillac TV commercial airing at the 2015 Academy Awards. This year’s contest will be judged by top PGA producers and celebrity guests such as Kathy Bates, Danny DeVito and Michael Douglas.

Though filmmakers are not required to be PGA members to participate, all contestants must be over 18 years of age and register for the competition by June 25. Requirements for the short film contest will be posted at  at 4 p.m. Friday All short films must be completed and uploaded by 7 p.m. on Sunday.
