NORMAN — More than 300 judges from across the state are expected in Norman for Oklahoma’s annual three-day judicial conference beginning today at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Conference Center.
In addition to continuing legal education workshops for judges on new and changing laws and practices, the three-day conference will include a Thursday luncheon honoring the state’s court clerks.
Local residents serving as panelists during the conference include William Hetherington, Oklahoma Court of Civil Appeals and former Cleveland County district judge; District Judges Lori Walkley and Thad Balkman; and Special District Judges Steve Stice and Michael Tupper.
The Honorable Robert M. Bell, retired chief judge of the Maryland Court of Appeals is slated to deliver the keynote address for the luncheon.
Chief Justice Tom Colbert will provide an update on changes in the Supreme Court of Oklahoma’s MIS department.
Panelists for the conference also include the Honorable Bobbe J. Bridge, former justice of the Washington State Supreme Court. Bridge is the founder and CEO of the Center for Children and Youth Justice, a nonprofit organization dedicated to reforming Washington’s juvenile justice and child welfare systems.
