Ladies compete to be Miss Oklahoma USA, Miss Teen Oklahoma USA

NORMAN — Young women in pink dresses stormed the Riverwind Showplace Theater stage Sunday evening for the 2014 Miss Oklahoma and Miss Teen Oklahoma USA main event.

With high heels and big smiles, each of the contestants were introduced in the Miss and Miss Teen categories before semifinalists were announced. The young women participated in an interview with judges earlier Sunday morning to add to their scores from Saturday’s preliminary round.

Friends and family cheered and clapped for their favorites before 15 Miss Oklahoma contestants and 19 Miss Teen Oklahoma contestants were eliminated. There were 13 semifinalists, including one People’s Choice semifinalist, left standing for each of the two competitions.

The remaining ladies then heated things up with the bathing suit portion of the competition and dazzled the audience and judges with gowns before finalists were announced. The teen and miss finalists were then interviewed before a farewell was given by 2013 winners Makenzie Muse and Graham Turner.

The announcement of the winners were not available at press time. Winners of Miss Oklahoma and Miss Teen Oklahoma USA will each receive a scholarship up to $57,600 as well as a long list of gift certificates and free products.

Judges for the 2014 pageant included Chelsea Smith, Steve Wilson, Bethany Gerber, Joe Chappel and Jaclyn Park.

Miss Oklahoma semifinalists included Ashley Hancock, Carrie Baker, Kandis Holt, Alma Sandoval, Brooklynn Young, Elizabeth Olsen, Alexys Razien, Alexandra Miller, Hannah Moore, Taylor Gorton, Baillie Burmaster, Jessika Williams and Molly Kitchen.
