NORMAN — Police identified the person found buried at a Norman residence after an investigation stemmed from a welfare check and missing person report in April.

The Oklahoma State Medical Examiner’s Office positively identified the person as Virgil J. Alexander, 69, of Norman, whose body was discovered at 6809 E. Robinson St.

The Medical Examiner’s Office has not completed their investigation, and no cause or manner of death has been determined at this point. Norman police continue to investigate the circumstances of the incident.

Police received the welfare check request April 17 on a resident at that location. After not being able to confirm the welfare of the subject, police facilitated a missing person report.

Capt. Tom Easley said a search warrant was granted for the home April 25. Subsequent to the investigation, Alexander’s body was found buried at the residence. Police said Tuesday several witnesses were being interviewed.
