OU Board of Regents to meet today

NORMAN — Renovation of the Will Rogers Room in the Oklahoma Memorial Union and new broadcast equipment for the Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication are among topics to be discussed by the OU Board of Regents at its regular meeting today in Norman.

The meeting will begin at 3:30 p.m. in the Scholars Room of Oklahoma Memorial Union with items submitted by Rogers State University and Cameron University, followed by those submitted by OU.

The board will consider a recommendation to authorize renovations to the Will Rogers Room in the Oklahoma Memorial Union. The improvements would include replacement of worn flooring, updated ceiling and the addition of wall paneling to match the adjacent Clarke-Anderson Room. Heating and air conditioning equipment also would be updated.

The Regents also will discuss a proposal for the purchase of broadcast equipment for the Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication.

The college operates OUTV, which currently uses standard definition equipment and assets that are in need of replacement with updated, higher-definition equipment. Since Gaylord Hall opened in 2004, new, high-definition technology has been developed and can be utilized to create media products for the television station for current and future students.

The next regular meeting of the OU Board of Regents will be June 23 to 25 in Ardmore.
