Moore coach charged with lewd acts

NORMAN — A felony charge was filed against Moore High School’s boys’ basketball coach Thursday in Cleveland County District Court for lewd acts to a child under 16.

Aaron Jarrard Howell, 38, was arrested by Oklahoma City police and booked into Oklahoma County jail on Monday. His bail was set at $25,000, according to the probable cause affidavit filed with the charge.

The victim, who is currently 16, told police the incidents began about four years ago at Howell’s residence in Oklahoma City in Cleveland County. During each incident, the girl pushed Howell away, backed away and even bit Howell once to get him to stop, the affidavit said.

Howell started his first season with the Lions in 2008.
