Local students win Youth Tour contest

NORMAN — Four high school juniors have been awarded a one-week, all-expenses-paid trip to Washington D.C. from June 14 to 20 as winners of the 2014 Youth Tour contest sponsored by Oklahoma Electric Cooperative.

The winners were Jazzlyn Pennybaker of Community Christian School in Moore, Tanner Gatlin of Newcastle High School, Tempie Stewart of Chickasha High School and Preston Stugell of Dibble High School. Harrison Williams, of Norman, was named an alternate.

The four winners were among a group of 10 finalists who presented papers on one of seven cooperative principles. They will join 75 others from across Oklahoma to tour the nation’s capital and will have an opportunity to meet and speak with Oklahoma’s Congressional delegation.
