Norman residents living in Ward 2 will select between City Council Candidates Clint Williams and Aleisha Karjala, while county wide, voters will select several county officials for party nomination. Voters also will have a chance to weigh in on several state and federal candidates.

It’s too late to change party affiliation, but voters have to the end of the week to get registered or to update name or address changes.

Cleveland County Election Board Secretary Bryant Rains said that persons who are United States citizens, residents of Oklahoma and at least 18 years old may apply to become registered voters. Oklahoma Voter Registration Application forms are available at the County Election Board office, 641 E. Robinson, and at all tag agencies, post offices and public libraries in the county. Applications also are available online at www.clevelandcountyelectionboard.com.

There are two ways to register:

· By mail: Fill out and mailing an Oklahoma Voter Registration Application form in time for it to be postmarked no later than midnight Friday, May 30. Applications postmarked after the deadline will be accepted and processed, but those applications will not be approved until after June 24.

· In person: At the Cleveland County Election Board from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Thursday and until 5 p.m. Friday.

The County Election Board will respond in writing to each person who submits an application for voter registration. The response will be either a Voter Identification Card listing the new voter’s precinct number and polling place location or a letter that explains the reason or reasons the application for voter registration was not approved. Secretary Rains said that any person who has submitted a voter registration application and who has not received a response within 30 days should contact the County Election Board Office.
