Three Norman golfers advance at OGA event

EDMOND — Norman’s Thomas Johnson held on to second place in the stroke-play portion of the Oklahoma Golf Association’s Junior Boys and Girls Championship Tuesday, and he’ll be one of three in-town competitors in match-play competition for the state champion honors due to be awarded Thursday.

Johnson followed a 67 with a 68 Tuesday at par 70 Kickingbird Golf Club to finish second in the medalist standings to Laverne’s Mason Overstreet (64-67).

Also among the top 16 in stroke-play competition, and therefore earning a spot in the match play, are Norman’s Asher Owen (72-71) and Connor Mears (72-74).

Additionally, playing in the 14-15 age group, Norman’s Parker Milligan begins match play competition this morning after rounds of 78 and 80.
