Woman arrested after five-vehicle collision in Norman

NORMAN — A woman was arrested Wednesday after a five-vehicle collision at the intersection of 24th Avenue Northwest and Robinson Street shortly after noon.

Norman police were originally dispatched to Academy Sports and Outdoors, 2010 24th Ave. NW, on a suspicious person call.

The officer contacted a male individual in a parking lot and determined a female individual was with him and was leaving in a vehicle. The officer told her to stop, but she continued to exit the parking lot, Lt. Chris Amason said.

“(She) went southbound down here on 24th at a high rate of speed and collided with several other vehicles,” Amason said.

No major injuries were reported as of early Wednesday afternoon.

Traffic was redirected on 24th Avenue Northwest while the police cleared the scene.

Police did not release the names of those involved in the collision or the woman arrested and what she was booked into jail for as of Wednesday night.
