Evidence discussed, arresting officers testify during murder trial

NORMAN — Photo after photo displayed during an ongoing jury trial Thursday showed blood-soaked materials and surfaces throughout parts of an Oklahoma City home where a man was stabbed more than 20 times with his two children present.

A majority of the blood was located in the master bedroom of Arthur Strozewski, 47, who died after sustaining the numerous stab wounds, according to court documents.

Eddie James Thompson, 35, is on trial for charges of first-degree murder, first-degree burglary and two counts of kidnapping. He was charged conjointly with Lorreta Hawks, 35, and Sebastian Sheperd, 19, after the Aug. 31, 2012, incident.

Michael McBride, an Oklahoma City police officer who responded to investigate and process the crime scene, testified for the majority of the day going through photographs he took of the crime scene and evidence collected for the case.

“The main thing that jumped out at me was the large volume of blood all over portions of that room,” McBride said as he testified about where Strozewski was located.

Large volumes of a red substance consistent with that of blood were found on the bed, on the floor next to the bed, on a knocked-over nightstand and on walls where what appeared to be bloody palm prints and spatters were located, McBride said.

The red substance also was found in a different upstairs bedroom closet. The blood seemed to have been transferred onto the clothes bar, top shelf and onto a rolled-up poster on the shelf, photo evidence showed.

Blood also appeared to have been transferred onto a wall at the top and bottom of the staircase. McBride said the markings on the bottom appeared to be from someone running their fingers along the wall and swinging their body through the doorway at the end of the staircase and into another room.

Further evidence showed blood in a downstairs bathroom, which had been locked from the inside. The blood had transferred onto a toilet bowl, the window ledge and a curtain above the toilet. The officer also located blood on the outside of the house, just outside of the same window.
