Kovach won’t run again

NORMAN — Norman’s Ward 2 city council member Tom Kovach announced today that he will not run for office again.

“I thought about it, and when I first ran for office, I wanted to run to address the flooding issue on McGee (Drive) as my primary issue, and we’ve done that,” Kovach said. “There’s no purpose for me to stay on until the last concrete is poured. I did what I came to do.”

Kovach said he will work diligently on the people’s business for the remaining six months of his term. After that, he will work on personal and professional projects he hasn’t had time for in the past.

He said he will not discount the possibility of running for office again in future, though nothing specific is on the horizon.

“It’s been a tough decision. You get involved and want to get things done,” Kovach said. “I want to make sure people are taken care of, but I trust the people of Ward 2 will pick someone who can get things done.”
