Kiwanis to serve up pancakes

NORMAN — The Norman Kiwanis Club will sponsor its annual pancake day from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Norman High School Commons, 911 W. Main St.

The cost for pancakes, bacon and sausage is $5 in advance or $6 at the door. Children 12 and under eat for $3.

Tickets are available from Kiwanis members, at Transcript Press, 222 E. Eufaula St., or BancFirst at Main Street and Berry Road.

The Norman civic club has sponsored the breakfast for 61 years. It is hosted before and after the Norman Christmas Parade, which begins at 10 a.m. at the high school and heads east on Main Street.

Kiwanis projects include Terrific Kids, Special Olympics, Key Club, the Civil Air Patrol, Kiwanis Cruiser, Veterans Bingo, Kiwanis Youth Camp, Children’s Miracle Network, the Salvation Army, sophomore scholarships and student of the month.

The club meets at noon Tuesdays at First Christian Church. Current president is Lance Knight of Transcript Press.

Prior to the parade, at about 9 a.m., the Norman Holiday Ice Rink will crown a Little Ice Prince and Princess. They ride on the float along with four local beauty queens: Heather Rasmussen, Miss Oklahoma State Fair; Kamryn Good, Miss Oklahoma State Fair’s Outstanding Teen; MaryAnn Dutcher, Miss Greater Oklahoma; and Molly Patterson, Miss Greater Oklahoma's Outstanding Teen.
