Filings result in crowded race

NORMAN — The final day to file for even-numbered Norman City Council seats resulted in three candidates officially declaring their intentions to run for office.

On Wednesday, Gary D. Caissie filed at 11:04 a.m. for the Ward 2 City Council seat.

William Hickman filed at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday for Ward 4. Jerry C. Lang filed at 3:52 p.m. for Ward 6.

On Tuesday, Jim Griffith filed for Ward 6, Aleisha Karjala filed for Ward 2 and Rhett Michael Jones filed for Ward 4.

On Monday, Clint Williams and Matthew Leal filed for Ward 2, Gregory J. Jungman filed for Ward 4 and Chad Williams filed for Ward 8.

The filing period closed at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

The general election will be April 1 with a run-off election, if needed, on June 24.
