Women entreprenuers induct new officers

NORMAN — The Norman Women’s Entrepreneurial Network met Jan. 8 at Zio’s Italian Kitchen and inducted officers for the new year.

NWEN is dedicated to advancing women owned and/or operated businesses through networking, socializing and educational speakers and topics.

New officers inducted included president Marcia Crook, vice president Stephanie Lokus-Smith, treasurer Roberta Leaper, secretary Cindy Wood, member at large Jackie Farley and past president Lynn Droescher.

Upcoming activities will include member networking opportunities among the members and at Norman Chamber functions. Social activities will include tours of locally owned businesses, get-togethers and member parties.

Educational activities planned include accounting and bookkeeping, marketing and human resource topics.

Also planned is an open house where members invite residents to stop by to visit and find out more information about NWEN and it members.

NWEN is adding a philanthropic aspect, with the Women’s Resource Center as its main focus.

Visitors and prospective members are welcome and encouraged to attend. Meetings are the first Wednesday of every month. The next meeting will be Feb. 5 at Los Dos Amigos Restaurant.
