School of Dance hosting auditions

NORMAN — The University of Oklahoma’s School of Dance (SOD) is hosting annual auditions for the SummerWind Youth Ballet program Feb. 1 and March 2.

The program runs June 15 to 28 in OU facilities. Dancers, ages 11 to 18, will take classes in ballet, pointe, repertoire, modern, jazz, character, Pilates, pantomime and yoga. Participants will enhance dance knowledge by attending seminars in dance history, stage make-up, nutrition and injury prevention.

The program will culminate with an on-stage student performance featuring class technique and SOD repertory at the Donald W. Reynolds Performing Arts Center in Holmberg Hall.

Girls and boys ages 11-18 may attend, with registration beginning at 3:15 p.m. and auditions from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Feb. 1. Registration begins 2:15 p.m., with auditions from 3 to 4:30 p.m. March 2. Auditions will take place in Room 3002 of the Reynolds Performing Arts Center, 560 Parrington Oval.

Registration is $15; cash or checks made out to the University of Oklahoma will be accepted.
