St. Thomas More University Parish is hosting a three-part series beginning July 9 on consecutive Tuesday evenings to discuss the sexual abuse crisis in the Catholic church.

Each evening's session will begin at 7 p.m. in the Kay Educational Center, 1526 Lincoln Ave., south of the construction site for their new church. Father Jim Goins, pastor of St. Thomas More, will lead the meetings, which are open to the public.

"This is a painful topic, but an important one. I hope we can have a serious, prayerful and constructive conversation," Goins said.

The series will include discussions of the cultural roots of the crisis, the "Long Lent" of 2002 and the newspaper that refused to allow the church's silence to prevail, and the challenge of rebuilding trust and the way forward.

A voluntary collection will be taken each night for Bethesda, which is the only agency in Oklahoma devoted solely to healing the trauma of childhood sexual abuse through therapy, education and prevention.

Free parking will be available in any of the STM lots. For more information, call 321-0990.
