UPDATE (4 p.m.): Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office investigators said the deceased white male found near Griffin Memorial Hospital, is possibly in his late 40s.
They said he was found alone, and fully clothed and partially submerged in Bishop’s Creek.
There were no signs of a struggle at the scene and no signs of trauma on the body, according to CCSO Det. Justin Pyle.
UPDATE (2:41 p.m.): The body found near Griffin Memorial Hospital this afternoon is located in Bishop's Creek.
According to CCSO Public Information Officer Joy Hampton, the body was reported by Norman Food and Shelter. Paramedics and police from Norman responded and confirmed the individual was deceased.
The scene was then turned over to CCSO to investigate at 1:20 p.m., Hampton said. The investigation is ongoing.
ORIGINAL: The Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a dead body found near Griffin Memorial Hospital.
A CCSO spokesperson confirmed the agency is aware and has sent two deputies and a detective to the scene. It is too early in the investigation for more details.
The body was found on property owned by the state, in particular the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse. This is why CCSO is leading the case, though it is within the Norman city limits.
