Kevin Foster begins as interim chief of NPD

Interim Norman Police Chief Kevin Foster was hired to the official post Thursday. He will be sworn in as chief at 11 a.m. today at city hall, 201 W. Gray St. He began as interim chief March 6.

The city of Norman officially named interim Norman police chief Kevin Foster to the post permanently Thursday.

Foster will be sworn in during a public press conference at 11 a.m. Friday at city hall, 201 W. Gray St. Foster has served as interim since March 6, after former chief Keith Humphrey took a job in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Foster joined Norman Police Department in September 1989. During his career, he has served in patrol, as a detective, worked in uniform support services and professional standards and other numerous positions. He was promoted to major in November 2011.
