Teddy Roosevelt to visit McFarlin

McFarlin United Methodist Church April Bonus Years will celebrate the Oklahoma Centennial 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at 419 S. University. Blvd. with a presentation by Gary Gray, an educator and retired Methodist clergy from Enid.

Gray will portray President Theodore Roosevelt and his interactions with and impact on the West, and his love for the people of Oklahoma-the only state admitted to the Union during his presidency. The presentation will explore the basic beliefs and values of Roosevelt during the times and issues of crisis.?

???The event will include lunch for $5. Roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, hot rolls and centennial birthday cake will be served.

United Ministry Center to host celebrity auction

OU sports memorabelian, spa specials, golf packages, meals and autographed celebrity items will be on the block for the celebrity auction 7 p.m. Friday at the United Ministry Center at the University of Oklahoma. Proceeds from the event will benefit the center, which provides a place to meet for discussion, study and a weekly lunch during the school year at the university. Refreshments also will be available. Area churches host food ministry

Angel Food Ministries, a non-profit outreach project of several area churches will take orders next weekfor boxes of discount-food items. Boxes of food feed a family of four for a week and may be purchased for $25. Boxes contain fresh meats, fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables and staple items. The service is open to everyone and there is no income requirement to participate.

Payment in full in either cash or food stamps is required when placing an order. Orders may be picked up 8:30-10:30 a.m. April 28 at each of the order sites.

Hillel to host Passover Seder

The University of Oklahoma Hillel Jewish Student Center will host a Passover Seder 8 p.m. Monday. The Seder cost $10 for students, $25 for community members and $65 for a family. The center also will provide meals throughout the week. Meals are available 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 6:30-8:30 p.m. daily. Lunches are free for students and $5 for community members. Dinners are $5 for students and $10 for community members.

Journey Church to host open house

The doors of Journey Church are always open to the OKC, Moore, and Norman community, but on Saturday, March 31 from 4:00 ? 7:00 pm, area residents have a special invitation to visit. To celebrate the completion of its new facility, Journey Church will host an open house 4-7 p.m. Saturday to celebrate the comletion of its new facility at Interstate 35 and Tecumseh Road. The event will allow people to tour the building and meet church members and staff. Journey's open house also will feature live music, games and inflatable toys for the kids, snacks and drinks, and prize giveaways. Building tours will be offered throughout the evening. The church will host its official grand opening services Sunday.
