Football

? The Norman North Middle School Camp for grades 6 to 8 will be this week at North's practice field. The camp will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Walk-up registration begins at 9:15 a.m. on the camp's first day.

Cost is $60 and includes a T-shirt at the end of the camp. Campers should wear a T-shirt, shorts, socks, cleats and bring tennis shoes in case of inclement weather.

The camp includes individual offensive and defense instruction by positions and special teams instruction including punting, kick off, fielding and deep snapping.

Tennis

? Steve Bajema, a 2002 Purcell High School graduate, was recently named to the 2005 NAIA Academic All-American team for tennis. Eligible athletes must have a minimum 3.5 GPA and have made a significant contribution to their team.

Bajema, son of former OU basketball star Steve Bajema, will be a senior and a member of the Oklahoma Baptist University team. He was OBU's No. 1 singles and doubles player this past fall and spring seasons.

He was recently honored at the OBU spring athletic banquet with the "Most Promising OBU Tennis Player Award." He is a marketing intern with the Oklahoma City RedHawks this summer.

Bajema is the son of Steve and Lisa Bajema of Wildwood, Mo., and the grandson of Daryl and Judy Bajemai of Oklahoma City and Rose McCurdy and Tom McCurdy of Purcell. He is the great-grandson of Maxwell and Rosamond McCurdy and Roberta Mantooth, all of Purcell and the nephew of Dr. James R. McCurdy and Mike and Debbie McCurdy, all of Norman.

Baseball

? Norman High School graduate Sean Flynt completed his sophomore season for Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa. Flynt pitched in one varsity game and several junior varsity games for the Pioneers.



Soccer

? Celtic 88 Green defeated the Edmond Royals 2-1 in the Under-17 finals of the Oklahoma Soccer Association State Cup May 29 and became the only Celtic team in Norman Youth Soccer Association to claim four state championships.

In round-robin play, Celtic 88 defeated the Tulsa Shamrocks, North Oklahoma City Padova and the Edmond Royals by a combined score of 17-1. In the semi-finals Celtic 88 shut out the Broken Arrow Hurricanes 2-nil on goals by Daniel McCain and Brandon Jack.

Celtic 88 Green players are McCain, Jack, Blaine Armstrong, Russ Coleman, Jason Cruz, Tyler Earley, Alan Goyzueta, John Paul Hanger, Paul Hernandez, Jared Homer, Robbie Krattiger, Aaron Parker, Dean Ray, Stuart Scaramucci, Nick Schmitt, Corby Thompson, Blake Ward and Lee Woodside.
