Norman teen wins spot in National American Miss pageant

In the midst of 66 competitors from across the state, Randi McLain, daughter of Randal and Debbie McLain of Norman, won first runner-up for the second year in a row at the Oklahoma National American Miss pageant, as well as an invitation to compete at the National American Miss pageant.

McLain is a 2005 Norman North High School graduate who plans to begin classes at the University of Oklahoma this fall, majoring in journalism.

The Disneyland-sponsored pageant enhances interviewing, speaking, poise and presentation skills for contestants, who are judged on community involvement, personal on-stage introductions, personal interviews and formal wear. ?

Family reunion celebrates sister's recovery

Thirty-one members of the Allen/Hudson family recently participated in a four-generation reunion at the Westwood Drive home of Norman residents John and Cynthia Reed.

There are seven children in the family with children and grandchildren of their own. It has been 27 years since the siblings' last reunion.

One sister was seriously injured in the Jan. 26 Metrolink train crash in Los Angeles. After an extended hospital stay and several surgeries, she and her husband were able to travel to Norman to see all her sisters and brother.

Parents of the siblings are Alex and Buzz Allen of Rambling Oaks Drive. All seven children, 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren attended.

Norman residents of the family include Jaquine and Dragan Milivojevic, Susan, Jeff and Keever Greer, Bob Schmidt and Morgan and A.J. Lloyd, Boyd Gee Littell, Cynthia, John, Astrud and Paul Reed and Zandy Allen.

Mary and Alex Cunningham of Murfreesboro, Tenn., attended. Former Norman resident Patti Hudson, Winnetka, Calif., attended. Greg Matson of Anza, Calif., Celena, Randall, Rainey, Rowdy and Autry Gregg were present.

From Plano, Texas, Melody and Sarah Perez, Michelle Blake and Bethany, Chris, Rachel and Natalie Liles (the youngest member of the family at 7 weeks) attended.
