St. James celebrates 75 years

St. James Episcopal Church announces preparations for celebration of its 75th anniversary at its location of 8400 S. Pennsylvania Ave. in south Oklahoma City.?

An open house will be Saturday, beginning with a reception at 2 p.m. A short program will follow at 2:30 and a barbecue dinner will be served. Entertainment will be provided by long-time church member John Bridges and "The Friends" band, a group playing traditional American and Gospel music. ?

Formed in 1931 in the Capitol Hill area, St. James Episcopal Church moved to its present home in 1970. In addition to regular worship services, St. James conducts a food pantry each month in conjunction with the Oklahoma City Food Bank.

"While many one-time members have moved to other communities or may be attending other churches at this time, all are invited to attend this special anniversary and reunion," said Judy Minor of the 75th celebration committee, "and we always newcomers and others interested in St. James or the Episcopal church."?
