Melvin Loy Shivers

Melvin Loy Shivers, 74, of Norman, died Thursday, Dec. 21, after a courageous battle with cancer. Services were Friday, Dec. 22, at Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Garner officiating. Burial was at the Noble IOOF Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.

Mr. Shivers was born April 11, 1932, in Prague, to Arthur and Cora Shivers. He grew up in Prague and has been a resident of the Noble and Norman area since 1955. He was a member of Crosspointe Church in Norman, and was retired from Tinker Air Force Base. He enjoyed a number of hobbies, genealogy, reading, history and OU sports.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Coy Shivers. Survivors include his daughter, Elisabeth M. Collett and husband, Rod, of Moore; son, Michael K. Shivers and wife, Karon, of Noble; five granddaughters, Jennifer Snow, Heather Font, Angela Velasquez Kristen and Kassie Shivers; one grandson, Kyler Shivers; three great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Carl Shivers of Stratford, and Harold Shivers of Paden.
