A day full of fun is scheduled in Moore Saturday as part of activities surrounding the Major League Soccer game.

FC Dallas and the Kansas City Wizards will face off 7:35 p.m. Saturday at Moore Stadium, but you won't have to wait until night falls to head out to the stadium.

A Family Fun Fest is scheduled from noon to 6:30 p.m. in the field directly north of the stadium. Billed as "festive, family-friendly fun," the event will include lots of free activities for kids. A rock climbing wall, moon bounce, obstacle course and giant slide, face painting and live music will be part of the fun.

A soccer skills challenge will teach children about the game, allow them to rub elbows with older, skilled players, and give them the opportunity to win prizes.

Concessions also will be available.

Deidre Ebrey, City of Moore economic development director, is organizing the pre-game activities. The City of Moore is sponsoring the Family Fun Fest.

"It's just something for families to create an exciting atmosphere before the game," Ebrey said. "It's a chance to be a part of a major league pregame environment... It's gonna be rockin'."

Organizers are expecting the game to draw more than 10,000 spectators. Tickets are on sale through or by calling (800) 595-4TIX. Prices range from $10 to $25.

Ebrey is excited about what the event could mean for the metro area.

"We're extremely excited to have this in town," she said. "It's a great sport, and one of the fastest growing sports in America. How this goes could be a factor in Oklahoma getting a Major League Soccer team in the future ... so this could be a stepping stone."

After the game

Postgame events also are planned with an autograph party for fans to meet the players of both teams and get their autographs.

A referee recap follows each MLS game. The referee crew reviews the game and evaluates their own performances. Fans can be part of the evaluation and can participate in question and answer session to find out what it's like to be a Major League Soccer referee.
